I tried so hard Blood sweat and tears I did so well A mother's praise A stroked ego It becomes habit Now it is expected I do not have to try so hard Brilliance is expected I spend two minutes That is enough Nothing but praise for my work But i want to get better And now i am stuck Too many kind words Are there no critics? No one will help me! It shouldn't be this hard Criticism: I know i need it I know i need to improve Should i leave it be? Is it my fault? Or is everyone else simple? I don't find their compliments comforting; Isn't ignorance a choice? Well then I must choose, And I refuse to be ignorant

Nice poem Alison, you shouldn't be asking for criticism, you should be asking for critique. You write very well just don't be to hard on yourself and write what comes from the heart. The more you do this the better you will get. Keep it up.

Well there's an interesting twist! a stimulating and pleasing deviation from the more common anguish expressed in this medium - the 'poor me! why am I so mistreated' type. Submit some more of your writing. I look forward to satisfying your desire for honest criticism (where it is warranted).
