Visions
I saw my husband on the stair
I looked again, he wasn't there
The step was cold and dark and bare
I saw my loved one on the bus
He sat there right in front of us
Then disembarked without a fuss
I saw my husband at the zoo
Looking at the amazing view
At all the birds as they flew
I saw my husband on the train
I looked out on the pouring rain
I turned back and he'd gone again
I saw my darling in the park
And waited for the usual spark
But then it just went cold and dark
I see him here, I see him there
And then my heart fills with despair
I feel as if it's going to tear
I saw a man who can't exist
He's just a name upon a list
He'll never know how much he's missed
First comes the tsunami of grief,
Then numbing pain brings sharp relief,
Emotions stolen by a thief
I am the woman on the moon
Or perched upon the highest dune
My life right now is out of tune
And now my meals are all for one
It's hard to think that he has gone,
And life, inevitably, moves on
