A Loan, Alone

poem by: Raychill Ellisonwonderland
Written on Feb 01, 2017

Content Note: Coercion, exploitation, illicit exchange, and survival under threat.

Leave me a loan,
So I can keep spending time—
Endlessly paying for consequences.

Hand me the shrapnel from your pockets.

Then, like a bullet,
I’ll whistle past you,

Shooting to the moon
While you eye my shiny change.

Sing me your song—
I’ll turn your notes into a heavenly hit
A score that’s off the record.

Leave me alone.
Or you're gonna pay.

A clever play on words that convey a powerful sardonic message. Very effective
