(prelude to I Am No Prophet) This evening like all times my pride is being a Pocho Like Abraham I was born on the other side of the river His river was the Euphrates mine is the Rio Grande Our commonality is God fearing but it ends there My ancestry is in the valley registering back before the Alamo I am first generation born al otro lado My pride is not in the country of my birth rather in it's people My raza, orale que yo oro por ellos ese aqui y alla Here and there my raza struggles for survival A people that no country cares for Abused by politicians, laws and criminals on either side of the Rio Grande These countries only want their labors and sweat But not their presence Me, I ma here to stay

thanks Cecilia, yes the cartels in Mexico are very powerful and corrupt the whole political system. I am aware of the "I ma here to stay", it was intentional as a play on words, I do that a lot. Thanks again, I might have to change it if it is too confusing.

Lovely worded poem.I am getting on in in years now but Mexico is a country that I wish I had visited in my younger days.I feel corruption is everywhere.
