Alex, I taught history for a few years, so I understand your Eastern references (Imams, minarets, etc.). That poem touched me as a history teacher, but it also touched me as a human being. We all have our cultural joys. I live in Las Vegas, NV, so sometimes I gaze at the strip. You really captured the bliss of living in modern Turkey. Do you live there? Just curious. Even if you don't, your work convinces me that you have really been there!

I enjoyed this poem a lot. Thank you for sharing part of your culture with us. I'm a city boy, and don't really get to experience anything like that.
