FUTURIST CITY MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN
The vision that came to me of things to come
Milwaukee Wisconsin Avenue no place to run
I see the reconstruction of hotel lobbies into rooms
The builders were convicted of felonies on parole
I was walking through what was once a hotel lobby
Only to be now transformed into a housing structure
Through a crowd of convicts, I push my way upfront
Some look at me with faces of brutality and anger
Their plight captured my very soul as I brushed pass
In the background, I heard one ask who is this man
Yet another reply telling my name as if I was acclaim
From the madhouse, and into the lobby they came
The elevators had been torn down only steps remain
I saw the destruction of vacant rooms to be reclaimed
I was outside the building on streets of crowded people
Huddling themselves like cattle waiting to be called
Someone with a blowhorn was shepherding the crowd
As the procession walks towards the fall I quickly stall
Wondering what is going on as they walk out the hall
In the commotion, I heard a distribution acclamation
Rooms were assigned to chosen individuals of distension
Away from the crowd, I recollect that I lived in seclusion
In the street of Wisconsin Avenue moving up to 12th street
People of all races and colors hauled for what was to become
The degradation of a once prosperous city on the lake
